THE International Campus of Universiti Malaysia Sabah at Labuan (UMSKAL) used to be a peaceful and tidy place, with every undergraduate observing the Campus' tight discipline - until the staging of the Battle of The Bands on Dec. 10 and 11. After the event which was open to the public, the venue for the contest was strewn with alcoholic bottles, tins, and cigarette butts.
There was even a confetti written on the wall which says "UMS Rockers Jumpa Lagi".
And guess what? The Campus authority even tried to blame it on the undergraduates!
Why blame us? Was there any such incident (alcohol and cigarettes) prior to the Battle of The Bands?
The outsiders brought them in!
UMS students know only too well that alcohol and cigarettes are out of bounds within the Campus and prior to the event there was no problem.
Instead of blaming the innocent undergraduates, the Campus authority should haul up the organisers of the event and tell them no more such events in future! Even if there is, no more open to the public!
That should be the way.
