I AM writing to express my dismay that workers of a company that is doing some work at the Tuaran Hospital were recently offered RM5 for each cat caught.I wonder if the company has the permission of the hospital authority to do that?
Even if it has, the priority is still wrong!
The RM5 should have been offered to those who catch the stray dogs who make noise by barking loudly, overturn the rubbish bins and even chase passers-by!
In any case, most if not all of the cats or for that matter dogs belong to the hospital staff staying at the quarters nearby. Recently one of the staff found his cat missing at home.
Upon enquiry, he was told that someone had caught a cat in the hospital compound and sold it to the company (name known to DE) for RM5.
Imagine the feelings of this cat owner as it was his favourite pet!
Wouldn't it be nice had those responsible asked around the staff if the cat belonged to one of them?
Lastly, I would like to point out to both the hospital authority and the company that any religion prohibits the maltreatment of animals.
I hope those who ill-treated animals (including the missing cat) will be ill-treated themselves in due course.
