TODAY marks the 19th day of the Movement Control Order (MCO) which has forced us to stay indoors and completely change the way we live now.

The movement restrictions due to the global coronavirus crisis has altered the method we interact, shop, work, and conduct ourselves daily.

Physical distancing and stay-at-home directives have disconnected us from our loved ones, friends, colleagues and placed our lives in uncertainty.

It has raised a host of concerns about what our life is going to be like in the coming weeks or after the MCO is lifted on April 15.

The lockdown has exposed our strength, weaknesses, preparedness, leadership, unity, financial and job stability, and most of all affected our peace of mind.

A frequently asked question now is why is this happening and what does all this mean for every individual?

In spirituality, it is believed that every problem and challenging situation arrives to make us know more about life.

In the Law of Attraction, it is said that the universe neither blesses you nor punishes you. It only responds to the vibrations of your attitude.

Regardless of what is happening to you right now, owing to the pandemic, this moment is the best time to take stock of your existence and review the way you have been living.

The Covid-19 is a wakeup call for you if you have been treating life just working, making money, eating, sleeping, and merry-making.

Although you are born to be happy but external forces, unseen and unknown influences, which are beyond your control can rob you of your happiness.

Setbacks and problems are part of our lifecycle. Running away or crying or ignoring the woes is not a solution as they will follow us around like our shadows.

Finding ways to cope, manage and ease the issues are an art and science of happy living which everyone should learn and be aware of the techniques.

Remember, our life is not meant to be a suffering and we should not become a victim to the anguish. Instead, we should emerge stronger with hope and develop a better understanding about life.

I think the current turmoil we all are experiencing is the best period to go within since we are unable to go out.

We should start living consciously because it plays a major role in our peace and happiness.

Since ancient times, theology propagates the foundation of harmonious living by emphasising on living consciously and being spiritually grounded.

Living consciously means going beyond the mind and the ego and understanding who you really are and the purpose of your life.

This divine journey is a process of detaching our unrealistic concepts, thoughts, beliefs and ideas and becoming more and more mindful.

The benefit of this transformation uncovers our hidden strength and goes beyond our ego-personality, which is currently the stumbling block to progress and happiness for many people.

We commonly hear stories of people trying to attain peace and spiritual awakening by living in isolation.

Today, we are all living in isolation and this could prove to be an opportunity and not a calamity.

I think we should use this Stay-At-Home period to take a more harmonious approach to life and ensure that we do not allow outer circumstances to influence our inner being and state of mind.

A balanced life requires us to care, not only of the necessities of the body, feelings and mind, but also of the spirit, and this is the role of conscious living.

Conscious living is the right of everyone and it is the key to a life of happiness, joy, good health and peace of mind because its manifestation has enormous power of inner strength.

This spirit is equally present within the most material person and within the most spiritual person.

The level of the expression of spirituality is dependent on how much the inner character is close to the surface, and on how much it is hidden, by thoughts, beliefs and negative habits.

Conscious Living Tips:

- Develop tolerance, patience, tact and consideration for others.

- Read spiritual and uplifting books and apply the valuable information found in the texts in your life.

- Meditate at sunrise and sunset for 10 to 20 minutes daily because this exercise can connect an individual to higher consciousness and freedom.

- Observe silence by quieting your mind as this helps to give your body, mind and spirit some rest.

- Recognise the fact that you are a strength within a physical body and not a physical body with a strength.

- Think positive and be in control of what enters your mind and open the door for the positive and close it for the negative.

- Develop the happiness habit, by always looking at the bright side of life and striving to be happy because happiness comes from within.

- Disallow the outer influences to decide your happiness for you.

- Practice often your will power and decision-making ability because this strengthens you and gives you control over your mind.

- Always remember to thank the universe for everything you get.
