“THE incident happened very fast and could not be avoided,” said Muhammad Azman Hamzah, who is among the 12 who survived the water surge.
The 26-year-old said it happened when their group was on the way home through the Lembah Maksina route.

He said they started river hiking activities around 9am and while on the way home via the route, it started to rain.
“After a few minutes of raining, we heard the sounds of strong currents and immediately ran towards the cliff but were swept away by the strong currents.
