KENINGAU: A team of teachers from Keningau Vocational College came in second in the Simon Greenall Award 2023 organised by Macmillan Education and International House World Organisation based in the United Kingdom (UK).
The team comprising Vienny Balakrishnan, Mujip Munib, Erma Gagah and Anita Md. Yasin was initially shortlisted as the three best entries for an interview assessment session via Zoom in early June, said the College Head of Research and Innovation, Dr Sirhajwan Idek here.

“This team of teachers risk their project called Virtual, Remote, Live or VRL which is an online class project conducted in English for students from other countries.
“Since these teachers are vocational teachers in the fields of bakery, culinary and cosmetology, they use the expertise and equipment to create practical classes through the Google Meet application,” he said.
Sirhajwan said, through these classes, they showed food preparation procedures as well as beauty and hygiene that can be practised by students in their classes.
He said they had implemented this project in 2022 with the cooperation of SEAMEO TED education association based in Cambodia and the project lasted for three months.
The college director, Christine Stanislaus Kinsik, expressed her pride in the achievement because this project was able to increase the capacity of teachers to explore various teaching techniques including the use of technology and the English language.
Meanwhile, head of the project, Vienny described the achievement as a proof that their project has the potential to be used as a continuous practice for the college.
