Kota Kinabalu: The Government will fully implement the e-invoicing system to replace the traditional paper and electronic documents such as PDF, JPEG and DOC on July 1.

Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam said the initiative will cover all transactions between sellers and buyers, including property management.

“This modern technology signals the start of a significant transformation for our State. The people will enjoy more efficient services, saving both time and costs,” he said.

“Among key benefits of e-invoices are reducing manual processes and errors, simplifying tax return submissions, improving operational efficiency and digitalising tax and financial reporting,” he added.

He expressed confidence that the initiative would spur further innovations, demonstrating that Sabah can compete with other states in today’s globalised world.

“With everyone’s cooperation, I believe we can achieve great benefits for all, creating a smarter, more sustainable and innovative future,” he added.

Speaking at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and Service Agreement, as well as the launch of the e-invoicing system via the GoNet app, Tuesday,

Joachim congratulated Taylor Hobbs, Chairman of the Board of Kota Kinabalu High School, along with the Management Corporations of Taman Bakti Ikhlas and Beverly Hills Plaza ‘B’, for joining GoNet as new business partners.

“This partnership is a great example of how the private sector can collaborate to drive positive change. I hope more stakeholders will participate in similar digital initiatives,” he said.

Joachim also praised GoNet, a Sabah-based company with over three years of experience, holding an e-wallet licence regulated by Bank Negara Malaysia.

“With GoNet’s expertise, I am confident that the app will continue offering a wide range of digital conveniences at users’ fingertips,” he said.
