LAHAD DATU: The State Government is urged to increase the number of teachers, particularly for the State Islamic School (SAN) Tabanak, to accommodate the increasing number of students.

Silam Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Division Chief Datuk Mizma Appehdullah said that at present, SAN Tabanak is facing a shortage of teachers, forcing the school to limit the number of new students.

"We hope the State Government will consider this issue of teacher shortages so that more children in Lahad Datu can register and learn at SAN," she said when met after officiating the 2024 SAN Tabanak Excellence Award and Year Six Graduation.

In her speech earlier, Mizma said that education is one of the important elements in building a community and a country, as well as producing a quality generation.

She said that education can also change people's lives for the better.

Therefore, education should always receive attention, especially among children, so that they do not fall behind in their studies.

Mizma said the State Government, through the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya development plan, is always striving to strengthen human capital and education in the State.

The State Government has provided various forms of education assistance that cover all aspects, including schools, parents and students.

"Various assistance has been provided by the State Government, such as the Bantuan Ihsan Komputer (Baik), Bantuan Khas Tunai Peperiksaan (Bakti), Bantuan Ihsan Tabungan Pendidikan Negeri (Bistari), Bantuan Aktiviti PIBG (Bagus), Bantuan Ihsan Sekolah Sabah (Bisbah) and others.

"This is part of the State Government's initiative to strengthen education for young Sabahans," she said.

Mizma said this effort to strengthen education requires cooperation from all parties, including parents.

In addition to monitoring a child's academic progress, parents also need to build a good relationship with the school.

"Closeness between the two parties will undoubtedly bring more benefits, especially for the students," she said.

Congratulating the students who have achieved excellent results, she said the effort must be continued so that more successes can be achieved.
