Musa presents Ramadan donations to 305 in S'kan

Sandakan: A total of 305 individuals received Ramadan donations at the Iftar Ramadan 1436H with the Chief Minister organised by the Sabah Special Affairs Department (JASA) in collaboration with Umno Libaran at the At- Taqwa Mosque, Taman Merpati, Sandakan on Saturday.The contributions were presented by the Chief Minister who is also Sg. Sibuga Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

At the event, alms were also presented to the mosque and zakat from JASA Sabah and 20 recipients also received zakat.

Speaking on the occasion, Musa said, in the month of Ramadan, the practice of cooperation and solidarity must continue to be strengthened.

"It is tradition during Ramadan, every year for donations to be given to the needy in the area to assist in the preparation of Aidilfitri," he said.

Meanwhile, Musa said, the involvement of people with the government to foster a spirit of cooperation is also important in the realization of any development plan of the government.

"Cooperation should also be accompanied by the spirit of unity among the various races and religions so that the government's development efforts may be carried out in accordance with the set time," he said.

Also present were Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing Minister cum Assemblyman for Gum-Gum, Datuk Zakaria Mohd Edris, Libaran MP Datuk Juslie Ajirol, Jasa Sabah Director, Abdul Manap Lakariba, JHEAINS Sandakan Administrative Officer Ustaz Awang Juri Awang Tahir.

Meanwhile Karamunting Assemblyman Charles O Pang said the breaking of fast event can be seen as a good platform to strengthen unity and goodwill among the local communities.

He said such events would also be joined by non- Muslim friends in order to strengthen unity.

"This is something unique among the multicultural people of this country who respect each other."

He said this to reporters during the breaking of fast event at the home of Kg Bokara Village Security Development Committee Leader Azmir Aliong recently.

Also present was Karamunting Community Development Leader Alex Loh and Kg Bokara Nurussholihin Mosque Chairman Mohammad Rizkie Aliong and local leaders.

He said at event such as these the people can get to know more about he practises and culture of their Muslim friends during such events while adding that such breaking of fast events can foster goodwill among the people as well.
