Ex-teacher stabbed to death by another
Kota Kinabalu: A heated argument between two friends over some sort of verbal game turned physical when one stabbed another to death at a premises in Kepayan Ridge, here, Friday. Ngui Lim Kiau, 64, a retired teacher from SJKC Shan Tao, was attacked by her 65-year-old friend, also a retired teacher, who stabbed her in the back with a 22cm long knife.

City Police Chief ACP M. Chandra said initial findings showed both women were neighbours and had been friends over the past six to seven years.

The younger woman was said to have invited her older friend to her house for a game of some sort about 2pm.

The game, however, turned violent when the older woman, who is also a psychiatric patient, allegedly went berserk and stabbed her friend claiming that she felt humiliated after being defeated in the game.

"Our team rushed to the scene after being alerted about 4.15pm and found the victim lying in the living room of the premises," he said.

He said preliminary investigations also showed the older woman unintentionally brought the knife with her as she was cutting banana leaves when she received an invitation from her friend to come over for a game.

After stabbing her friend, the older woman tried to wake her up but failed, prompting her to try slicing her left wrist and stabbing herself with the knife.

She subsequently called a friend to inform of the incident, prompting the friend and her younger brother to the scene.

Investigations also found that the younger woman is single and stayed alone in the premises, while her friend is also single and stayed in a premises on the next block with her younger brother.

The older woman is said to have been under private psychiatric care for more than 20 years and had just completed her treatment at Hospital Mesra in Bukit Padang, where she had been cared for since 2013, on Sept 14.

She was scheduled to go for a review at the same hospital on Sept 28.

"The older woman has been sent to the hospital for injuries sustained and action will be taken once she is discharged from hospital," said Chandra.

Meanwhile, a slight commotion ensued when family members of the victim confronted the older woman and allegedly punched her once after the incident.
