Kota Kinabalu: A man who threw a mineral water bottle at a woman's car and raised his fist to her following a misunderstanding on a narrow road will cool off in prison.Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie sentenced Kadafie Nur to a week in jail after he pleaded guilty to the charge against him.

He committed the offence against the 32-year-old woman at 4pm on July 5, this year along Jalan Lok Kawi, Papar.

The offence under Section 8(1)(e) of the Minor Offence Ordinance carries a jail term of up to 14 days, or fine of up to RM25, on conviction.

Earlier, Kadafie asked for only a fine.

But Prosecuting Officer Chief Inspector Lim Swee Beng urged the court to impose a jail sentence on Kadafie.

Abbie ordered Kadafie to serve the jail sentence from Tuesday.

The court was told that while the woman was driving an unknown man, later identified as Kadafie, threw a mineral water bottle at her car and also raised his fist to her.

The incident, which stemmed from a misunderstanding as both drivers negotiated the narrow road, caused fear to the woman who later lodged a police report.

In the same court, a Filipino was charged with causing hurt to another man.

Suhaili Akmat pleaded not guilty to assaulting the 47-year-old man at 12.30am on Oct 4, this year at a café in Sembulan, here.

The court set Nov 4 for case management and ordered Suhaili remanded further pending the date.
