Kota Kinabalu: The higher speed offer for fixed line broadband service with the price maintained at the same rate from January next year will directly benefit the people in many ways, said Sabah Malaysia Social Media Association President Dr Lee Kuok Tiung. He said the implementation of the measure also showed that the Government through the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM) was aware of the dire need for smartphones at all levels of the community be it among white collar or blue collar workers, adults or students.

"We owe this to KKMM helmed by Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak - in being able to address this issue after taking into account the social and economic factors.

"I see this as a good move and the Government is concerned how and where the people can benefit, both economically and socially - more business transactions can be conducted and family and community relations can be strengthened," he said here Friday.

He was commenting on the higher speed fixed line broadband service to be offered at the same price from January next year as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak when tabling the 2017 Budget in the Dewan Rakyat Friday.
