63 sailors competing in S'kan Regatta

Sandakan: Top ranking State sailors are among 63 participants from Sandakan Yacht Club, Kinabalu Yacht Club, Tawau Yacht Club, Sabah Sailing Association (Saila) and Navy Yacht Club Kota Kinabalu confirmed taking part in the Sandakan Regatta/River Race which gets underway today (Friday)."This regatta is organised with the collaboration of Saila and incorporates the Sabah Closed which is endorsed by Saila as a ranking event for Sabah State sailors," organising chairman James Leong said.

The organisers received sponsorship for the event from Deputy Chief Minister cum State Industrial Development Minister Datuk Seri Raymond Tan Shu Kiah.

The cheque was received by James who is also Sandakan Yacht Club Rear Commodore. Tan's Special Assistant Datuk Henry Hung presented the cheque at the Tanjung Papat Community Development Leader Office (UPPM).

James thanked Tan for his support and gratitude to State Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan and all sponsors for their continued assistance which have helped to make the annual regatta a success.
