Ikmal takes the honours

Kota Kinabalu: Up and coming junior golfer Mohd Ikmal Jasin captured the Nett title in the Captain Challenge Trophy tournament held at Keningau Golf and Country Club on Sunday.

The 14-year-old 7-handicapper who won the State School Sports Council Under-15 title earlier this year carded a gross 75 to take the top cash prize of RM500 with his final nett score of 68, on count back (OCB) win over Wetheral Fung who had to settle for second place and RM400.

Third place was also decided on count back after two players returned with identical 69 and Bryan William was declared the winner to take home RM350 and Mohd Amni Matsudin had to contend with RM300 in fourth place.

In the gross event, Duin Etin was the winner with a three-over 75 to take the RM400 cash prize followed by Edmund Bainon (77) and Jainudin Narion (79) who each received RM 350 and RM300 respectively.

DK Mariah Pg Bujang was the ladies winner on count back over F. Angeline Saban after both came back with 75 with Chung Nyuk Mee (77) in third while the top three places in the senior category went to Haspin Harris (71), Ricky Ng (73) and Juhilin Takun (76 OCB). - GL Oh
