Mechanic who cursed cops is RM2,500 poorer

Kota Kinabalu: A 54-year-old mechanic who cursed at policemen for demanding to see his identification document was fined RM2,500 or three months' jail.Leonard Lee admitted before Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus to committing the offence near Restoran Rijuana in Kepayan Ridge at 4.30am on Sept 15.Prosecuting officer, Inspector Albert Basiri told the court that prior to the incident, Lee was spotted riding a motorcycle without a helmet by policemen on patrol.

Lee was stopped by the policemen who asked for his identification document but Lee refused and tried to provoke by cursing them.He was then detained.The offence under Section 186 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to two years or fine or both on conviction.In another case, three women from Thailand were charged with soliciting for prostitution.

They were Jutamas Sudsangjan, 20, Pharada Tijangthung, 21, and Chindarat Rattanawan.The court however, adjourned their case to Oct 24 to get a Thai Interpreter after learning that the women only converse in Thai.

The women, who were not represented, were ordered to be further remanded.The charge against them is framed under Section 372B of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to one year or fine or both on conviction.Meanwhile, four men were jailed to taking drugs.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Herwadi Rosilani, Christopher Jackson, Bali Hassan and Zeno Lister admitted to committing the offence between July 5 and Aug 11.Herwadi was handed seven months' jail while the rest were jailed six months each. - Jo Ann Mool
