Kota Kinabalu: A 32-year-old jobless man claimed trial to burning his mother's house in Kota Belud.Moktal Mamad made the plea before Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim after the charge against him was read on Thursday.He is accused of committing mischief by burning the house belonging to one Bunga Damik, 63, at 12pm on Feb 9, this year at Kg Rampayan Laut.

The charge stated that Moktal's act had destroyed the house.

The offence under Section 436 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years and also liable to a fine, on conviction. The court fixed March 26, this year for case management and ordered Moktal remanded further pending the date.
