"This partnership gives us a great opportunity to work together with Mara in developing and nurturing a new generation of cadet pilots and talents who will be assured of a job within the group's airlines upon completion of their courses.

"This move is pivotal as MAG continues to expand its operations and become profitable again," he said in a statement on Monday. At the event, Izham signed the MoU on behalf of MAG, while Mara was represented by its Director-General, Datuk Azhar Abdul Manaf.

The ceremony was witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, MAG Chairman Tan Sri Md Nor Yusof and Mara Chairman Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin.

Through this collaboration, Izham said cadet pilots shortlisted by MAG would be able to undergo training at selected flying schools in Malaysia, funded by Mara.

The cadets will continue their training at the Malaysia Airlines Bhd Academy in Subang, a premier regional aviation education hub which offered programmes covering all aspects of airline operations and management.
