M'sian cricket squad eye promotion to WCL 3

Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian cricket squad would be banking on home ground advantage at the 2018 ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Division Four, to secure promotion to WCL 3.The national side must claim the top two spots at the six-nation tournament scheduled from April 29 to May 6 to secure their berth to the third division, after being demoted to WCL 4 when they finished fifth in the previous edition.However, Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) general manager (cricket operations) M. Dinesh, is confident the national side powered by new coach Sampath Perera of Sri Lanka, has high hopes of advancing into the finals.

"Our target is get back into WCL 3 and our chances are high by playing on home soil and only Uganda is ranked above us. Sampath took charge of the team as interim coach during our Sri Lanka Tour in January and is now preparing the squad for the WCL 4.
