Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Theological Seminary will be hosting a thanksgiving dinner at the Hakka Association Ballroom today (Saturday) in conjunction with its 30th Anniversary.Earlier, they held a worship celebration at the Sabah Theological Seminary Auditorium, Thursday.In 1998, The Basel Christian Church of Malaysia endeavoured to establish the Sabah Teological Seminary as a response to the need to train church workers and Christian community leaders.

It commenced operations with 23 students, six lecturers and a single double storey house which was used to conduct the lectures. The Seminary currently has 523 students, 23 lecturers and modern facilities; which include well-equipped classrooms, a two-storey library and a computer lab with broadband capabilities.
It has also been awarded in 2014 for its recognition as a Center of Theological Excellence by the Association of Theological School in South East Asia (ATESEA), which is an accreditation body for theological schools in Asia. The Seminary's Principal Dr Wilfred J Samuel noted that all this has been made possible because of God's grace and goodness expressed through members of the Churches in Sabah and beyond.

He also reiterated that the State Government has without fail provided an annual grant to support the Seminary's operations. Sabah Theological Seminary Board of Governors Chairman Datuk Peter Lee Khun Choi said that the Seminary not only endeavours to train pastors but also community leaders who will be able to engage in community transformation programmes, provide social care and counselling for the needy.
