Keningau: Federal Special Task Force for Sabah and Labuan (FSTF) said they are facing increasing numbers of illegal immigrants having many new kinds of false documents which were confiscated.FSTF Principal Assistant Secretary (Operation), ACP Abdul Aziz Alwee said the situation is becoming more serious and that cooperation from the public is very much needed in order to handle such problems.

The agency, which is also assisted by others such as the Immigration Department, screened 252 immigrants.

A total of 303 immigrants were rounded-up by the FSTF during an "Ops Tanduk' held in the district Friday and Saturday.

"From this figure, 94 were rounded up and brought to our Filtration Centre in Bingkor.

Some 74 were identified as illegal immigrants and sent to the Rumah Merah in Papar.

"On Saturday, we managed to round up 51 immigrants and those found without valid identification documents will also be sent to Papar," he said.

Abd Aziz said the two-day operation, which was participated by about 30 personnel, targeted places such as plantations, construction sites, entertainment outlets, squatter areas, rented houses and hotels.

Abd Aziz said the objective of Ops Tanduk was to address the influx of illegal immigrants in Sabah, and it will cover every district in Sabah.
