KK High School planning to erect RM3m building

Kota Kinabalu: Kota Kinabalu High School (KKHS) is planning to erect a new building to cope with the surge in student numbers. The new building, which costs RM3 million to construct, will have 15 classrooms and five activity rooms.

KKHS board of governors chairman Ben Lim Kiat Kong said that when leading the board members and school officials to call on the Minister of Special Tasks Datuk Teo Chee Kang here on Monday.

Lim said the school has applied for the State Government's assistance for the new development project and he hoped that Teo would assist KKHS as well.

In addition, Lim invited Teo as the guest of honour to grace the school's annual KKHS Concert at the school hall on June 21, 7pm.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the two projects together would add 28MWac of new power generation capacity, helping to stabilise electricity supply in Sabah.
The programme of KKHS Concert includes traditional dance, singing, Chinese orchestra, concert band and drama performances.

Meanwhile, Teo has agreed to attend the KKHS Concert as well as rendered his assistance to the school board in their latest school development project.

Meanwhile, Sabah Methodist Church hopes the State Government can increase its allocation to the church in view of its increasing membership and community works, said its president Rev. Dr Hii Kong Hock.

Apart from spreading the Good News, Hii said the church was committed to build a caring and morally strong society.

He said that when leading the church representatives to call on Teo.

Hii said the Methodist Church in Malaysia was established in 1885 and is now the largest Protestant Church in the country.

In 1983, the Sabah Methodist Church was established and since then has set up 24 churches throughout the State.

At present, Sabah Methodist Church runs eight kindergartens and nurseries in various parts of the State, as well as a mission secondary school located at Serudong Laut, Tawau where majority of the population are of the Murut community.

The church also completed the construction of a children's home in Tuaran which can accommodate between 15 and 20 children.

The home, which provides holistic care to underprivileged children, is expected to commence its service by 2015.

The church also provides aid to natural disaster victims and migrant workers.

During the courtesy call, Hii also presented the application forms for the State Government's annual allocation to Teo.

He hoped that the State Government could increase its allocation to the church as its membership and community works have increased significantly over the years.
