Join Union, Jame tells teachers

KOTA BELUD: Sabah Education Department Director Datuk Jame Alip urged all teachers to join the Sabah Government Teachers Union (KGKS) for their own benefit.He said the union will act as a medium for teachers to discuss their problems.

Jame said this when officiating at the 36th KGKS Biannual General Meeting at Samah Hall, Wisma Haji Sibil here.

"We want to see the welfare of teachers taken care of as they are the ones who are responsible for producing an excellent society," he said, congratulating Hussin Bakar who was retained as KGKS President for the third term during the meeting.

Earlier, Hussin also thanked the delegates for electing him as president again.

He also announced that the union has agreed to provide an advance sum of RM5, 000 to the family members of members who had passed on through the Etiqa Takaful Insurance.

He also said that he will continue to fight for the welfare of the teachers in Sabah as well as to make sure the education in the State is comparable with the rest of the states in Malaysia.

The programme also saw Jame handing a cheque for RM47, 281.02 to a widow Siti Minah Juhari.
