Maid suffers torture for 8 months by lesbian couple

PETALING JAYA: One of the worst cases of recorded maid abuse in the country's history has surfaced.In the latest case in Ampang, a 32-year-old Indonesian maid, identified as Meriance Kabu, is alleged to have been tortured by her employers for eight months until she was rescued on Saturday.Topping the horrifying list of injuries, the maid claimed that she even had her teeth pulled out by her employers – a lesbian couple – after they kicked and stomped on her face. l Inserted a hard object into her private parts;l Not properly fed her during the last eight months;l Forced her to swallow her sleepydust (tahi mata); andl Kept her imprisoned in a two-room apartment with their dog.

Unable to take any more, the maid's bid for freedom came on Saturday evening when she wrote on a piece of paper that she was being abused by her employers and needed help. She ended her note saying "Setiap hari saya mandi darah (Everyday I'm taking a bloodbath)."The crumpled piece of paper caught the attention of a neighbour at the low-cost apartments (Block M10) in Pandan Jaya, who read the maid's cry for help.

Ampang Jaya Deputy Police Chief Supt Md Nazri Zawawi said the neighbour immediately alerted a police officer, who also lived in the block."The officer informed the Ampang Jaya police headquarters and officers were sent to the scene," he said. Nazri said the two employers, aged 47 and 39, who worked as consultants at a factory, were arrested and had been remanded to facilitate police investigations."The maid was found in a serious condition with bruises all over her body. Her face was beyond recognition," he said.He said police investigations revealed the maid had been constantly beaten and abused over the eight-month period. Nazri said police had not recorded a full statements from her and would give her time to recover first."The extent of the torture and abuse will only be known when we speak to her again," he said.Nazri confirmed she was sexually abused by the couple, was not allowed to leave the apartment at any time, and was locked in when the couple left for work.He said police would seek the help of the Indonesian embassy to locate the maid's family.
