2,400 take part in Charity Run for Humanity

Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysia Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Sabah had initially targeted about 2,000 participants in its MRCS 10k Charity Run for Humanity.But the turnout on Sunday surpassed even their expectation.

According to Elizabeth Betny C. Sikayun, about 2,400 runners came to start line at Likas Stadium.

"The turnout was really beyond our expectation," she said.

Head of State, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, who is also patron of the Sabah MRCS, flagged-off the runners.

Prior to the run, there was a light warm-up to get the participants ready for the 10km run.

The route was from the stadium up to Yayasan Sabah and back to the stadium.

Overall, the run was a success and the organisers thanked 100 Plus, KK Drinks, Mega Sunwise, D'Jack, Kota Kinabalu MCA, Music Mart, Hyatt Kinabalu and also co-organisers, Ministry of Youth and Sports, police, Radio Amateur, KKFm and City Hall.

There was also a lucky draw with prizes ranging from mountain bikes and electrical items.
