Dos and don’ts for gradual reopening
Kota Kinabalu: Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ellron Angin (pic) has issued another statement on some of the ‘dos and don’ts’ during the stage one reopening of sports and recreation activities in the State which started on Tuesday.

“This is to prevent any confusion the public may have that could lead to the violating of the National Security Council and Local Authorities directives,” he said on Friday.

According to him, the sports activities allowed during this period falls into five categories, namely individual/recreational, martial arts, racket sports, skill sports and team sports.

Those under individual/recreational are walking, jogging, cycling, hiking, fishing, golf, E-sports, athletics, weightlifting, snooker/billiard, lawn bowls, tenpin bowling, petanque, chess, carom, rock climbing, paragliding, dance sports, gymnastics, self- aerobics, golf driving range, extreme sports and motorsports.

In golf, the operators must ensure that only one player is allowed to sit in each buggy throughout the game and usage of partition or plastic divider is prohibited.

In racket sports, only singles matches are allowed for badminton, table tennis, tennis, squash and soft tennis, while those under skills sports are archery, fencing, sailing, gymnastics, shooting, kayaking and canoeing.

Meanwhile, only individual fitness and skills training with no physical contact are allowed for team sports involving hockey, netball, basketball, sepak takraw, rugby, cricket and football.

Ellron also said combat disciplines such as pencak silat, karate, taekwondo, silambam, wushu, judo, shorinji kempo, muaythai and akido are strictly prohibited.

“I must stress that implementation of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) must be fully complied including wearing of mask except during training or exercise, user registration through the MySejahtera/SabahTrace application and the attendance book must be provided by the owner/manager/venue operators.

“In addition, there must be provision of disinfectant liquid at all entrances, temperature scan for all users, sanitising of all equipment before and after use, as well as no sharing of glasses, towels and ‘exercise mat’.

“All markers and indicators must be clearly shown and the social distancing of 1-3 metres for static activities and 3-5 metres for dynamics activities must be followed.

“There will also be no cash transactions and the public aged 12 under as well as those aged 60 above are not encouraged to visit the sports facilities for the time being,” he added.

In his earlier statement, he stated that the time schedule allowed is from 6am to 10pm daily and with no more than 10 persons in a group at one time.
