DID mulls fortifying Kinarut riverbank
The landowner’s mum points at the damage caused by the river, as two DID staff look on, in December.
Kota Kinabalu: The Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) will consider fortifying the banks of a river in Kg Sunduzon, Kinarut to prevent the land on either side from destabilising.

A DID spokesman said the protection work for the property might involve building a concrete embankment.

“At the beginning of December, our staff made a joint inspection, together with the landowner, of the section of the river which runs through his property,” he said.

“They confirmed the impact of the erosion caused by the flowing water. Substantial portions of the land at the river’s edge had destabilised.”
