Cars destroyed in fires
Kota Kinabalu: THREE vehicles parked at a house in Batu 10, Manggatal, near Kota Kinabalu, were destroyed in a fire, Sunday.

The owner of the vehicles who is in his 40s was at home during the incident. He said the Isuzu D-Max, Honda and Perodua Kembara, suddenly caught fire.

“The fire started on the Honda before spreading rapidly to the other two cars,” he said.

The Fire and Rescue Department’s Forensic team is investigating the cause of the incident.

Tuaran Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar when contacted said they received a distress call at 7.36am and rushed 10 firefighters along with a fire truck and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) utility vehicle to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the house and two cars that were parked near the house were destroyed.

“No injuries and casualties were reported during the incident,” he said, adding that the fire was successfully controlled at 8.40am.

According to Abdul Qawie, the operation ended at 10.04am while the cause of the incident and the estimated loss are still under investigation.
