Kota Kinabalu: Papar will soon have a new cinema at the Parklane City development site opposite Benoni Commercial Centre as the cinema at the old Papar town had closed down more than 30 years ago. With this development, there is great prospect for the cinema business in Papar to be revived – thanks to SWG Group Managing Director Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen who credited her mother for the revival.

She revealed this to a group of West Malaysian Asia Pacific TOP Excellence Brand Committee (APC) delegates on an investment familiarisation tour of Sabah to view projects, introduced by Sabah APC President Dato’ Seri Winston Liaw and APC East Malaysia Chairman Chong Yin Chye.
Susan Wong said: “My mother Datin Seri Panglima Chen Si Mui (pic) is very fond of the cinema as when she was young, youths would date her by inviting her to see movies at the cinema.
“She would go along with many of her girlfriends. I hope to have my mother as one of the first patrons at the new cinema when it starts.”
Liaw told the visitors that Susan is a Sabah-based credible property developer with many completed projects, and there is no danger of investors having to face abandonment of projects undertaken by the SWG Group.
