Minimum wage partly to blame: Labuan Chamber
Dahlif said checks showed that even the prices of products and services not adversely affected by the higher cost of raw materials have increased due to the higher minimum wage.
LABUAN: The Government should consider a “grace period” for the implementation of the new minimum wage to help curb the rising inflation, says the Labuan Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.Its Chairman Datuk Dahlif Singh said checks showed that even the prices of products and services not adversely affected by the higher cost of raw materials have increased due to the higher minimum wage.

Citing an example, Dahlif said, there has been no increase in the water and electricity tariffs, but the price of a 10kg bag of ice cubes has increased from RM3.50 to more than RM4.
