Queen touched by Sabahans waiting in the rain to see her
Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah laments in her video of how she and the King could not get down to meet those who were lining up to see them.
MIRI: The Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah was moved to tears by the reception of the people of Sabah in welcoming the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, and her during the final lap of their Kembara Kenali Borneo tour in the state yesterday.

A post on the Istana Negara Instagram account yesterday shared a video clip showing Tunku Azizah in tears as she described how it felt seeing the people of Sabah willing to wait for their arrival despite the heavy rain during the royal couple’s journey from Kota Kinabalu to Sepitang, which is the convoy’s final destination before they entered Lawas in Sarawak.

“Sabah is crying, I am also crying, the people are crying, the sky is crying but they are still out there in this heavy rain. I (am) already half wet because I wound down the (car) window.

“Thank you so much. Tuanku (Sultan Abdullah) and I will remember this for the rest of our lives. We are really sorry and we feel bad for the people who are waiting out there in the rain because we cannot go down and see them.

“I was among those who stood in the rain yesterday in Beaufort town waiting for the arrival of the King and Queen. Although it was raining heavily, so much so there were umbrellas turned upside down, we still waited faithfully. Touched to see our Queen cry yesterday. We love you, our King,” commented an Instagram user with the name @n_sal16.

“When the people have so much love. Doesn’t matter rain or shine,” wrote @lockmayphotography in the comment section.
