Kota Kinabalu: The proposed construction of a trans-Borneo railway project connecting Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Kalimantan in Indonesia will have an impact on Sipitang's economic growth, its assemblyman Datuk Dr. Yusof Yacob reportedly said.
This is due to Sipitang district's position as the gateway for visitors from Sarawak, Brunei and Kalimantan, he was reported as saying.
"As a district located on the border, it is the first area in Sabah to receive visitors from Sarawak, Brunei and Indonesia, of course it is a good plan," he told the media when met at an iftar programme at Kampung Lumut Surau, near here, yesterday.
