Kota Kinabalu: Anak Badak FC Under-10 (U10) are just one win away from clinching the inaugural title of the Suparimau League 2024 and securing a spot in the Borneo Cup.
On Saturday, head coach Musa Abdul Rahman’s boys extended their unbeaten record to seven consecutive matches after thrashing Jubilo Academy 5-0 in a match held at Likas Stadium’s synthetic pitch, here.
Forward Muhammad Adi Mirza Mazhair Shahroz scored the opening goal from a corner in the first half.
Two more goals came from forward Muhammad Faaeq Nadeem Mohd Nizam in the second half, and defender Mohammad Qaisy Miqail Fedy secured the victory for Anak Badak FC in the 44th minute.
Meanwhile, the other goal was scored in the third period through an own goal. Matches are played in three periods with each period lasting 15 minutes.
Team manager Mazhair Shahroz Muhasip said the next outing will see Anak Badak FC take on second-placed TBBKK in the closing match on July 6.
“Winning or at least drawing against TBBKK is enough for us to win the Suparimau League.
“However, I advise the players not to underestimate the opponents because it will be the determining match for us if we want to lift the trophy.
“The title will be a great boost for us before the Borneo Cup, which will take place in September,” he said.
After seven matches, Anak Badak FC now have 21 points at the top of the table, with 47 goals scored and only seven conceded.
In second place with 18 points are TBBKK, followed by Ex Pai Wen Junior in third place with 15 points.
