Tenom: A permanent house was destroyed in a fire that broke out in Kg Sri Menanti 3 Jalan Mandalom here on Tuesday night. A car and four motorcycles were also burnt.

The District Fire and Rescue Station received a call at 11.14 pm and a team led by Operations Commander Sharil Sulaiman rushed to the scene with machinery.

Also participating in the operation were personnel from the Police, Ministry of Health and Sabah Electricity.

According to Sharil, a 23-year-old auxiliary firefighter was electrocuted and was sent to Tenom Hospital in a Vigo utility for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the homeowner suffered an injury to his leg from a nail and was treated by Ministry of Health staff at the location.

The firemen used water from the machinery to extinguish the fire.
