KOTA MARUDU: A female hospital cleaning staff member endured nearly 30 minutes of pain after her right hand became trapped in an adjustable bed in the maternity ward, here, Saturday.
Firefighters from the Kota Marudu Fire and Rescue Station were called to the scene and used specialised equipment to pry open the metal bed frame and free the victim’s hand.
Operations Commander Asman Omar said the woman sustained injuries, including a hole in her hand, likely caused by pressure from the metal frame and screws of the bed.

Initial investigations revealed that the 49-year-old victim was cleaning the maternity ward around 4.10pm when she slipped, causing her hand to become trapped beneath the bed.
A team of six firefighters, led by Jakri Bahar, responded to the emergency call received at 4.42pm.
They freed the victim’s hand within six minutes and handed her over to hospital staff for further treatment.
