The Watauga Police Department (WPD) said Winston Love was convicted by a jury on June 4 of organised retail theft with a deadly weapon, with the sentence handed down days later.
Authorities said Love orchestrated a multi-state retail theft operation throughout 2025, targeting high-value consumer goods across Texas and Oklahoma.
Investigators linked him to at least 23 thefts across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, including in Lewisville, Frisco, Mansfield and Arlington.
Among the items stolen were more than 200 Lego sets valued at over US$30,000 (RM132,000), as well as PlayStation controllers, coffee makers and vacuum cleaners.
Police said his activities came to an end in October 2025 when he was arrested after allegedly stealing US$1,200 (RM5,280) worth of toy sets from a Target store in Watauga and fleeing the scene.
The arrest involved a brief standoff at his residence, after which investigators connected him to the wider organised retail theft ring, according to authorities.
