PETALING JAYA: Police are tracking down the owner of a social media account, identified as Imran Suresh, over a statement he made on Sunday’s acid attack on national footballer Faisal Halim.
Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said the individual in question had information related to the incident, Utusan Malaysia reported.
“So, we want to track him down to see what information he has that could assist with the investigation,” he was quoted as saying.
“Any individual who has any information should come forward instead of making statements on social media that could jeopardise the investigation.”
Regarding the suspects who were remanded yesterday, Razarudin said the investigation is ongoing and being conducted from various angles.
He also cautioned the public against speculation that could obstruct the investigation.
The owner of the social media account had claimed since Tuesday to have been summoned by the police to assist the investigation into Faisal’s case.
He claimed to possess crucial information but has been instructed to refrain from disclosing details regarding the incident.
Police have arrested two suspects believed to have been involved in the acid attack on Faisal at a shopping mall in Kota Damansara.
Faisal, a winger with the national team and Selangor FC, is being warded at the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Shah Alam with fourth-degree burns.
