Kota Kinabalu: Shotokan Karate Association of Sabah (SKAS) will be sending their karatekas and officials for the first time under Shotokan Karate Malaysia to participate in the 2nd Asian Karate Federation (AKF) Training Camp on July 7 to 9 at Pattaya, Thailand. The objective of the training camp is not only aimed at improving the standards of the participant's karate skill but also to foster a better understanding among each other and friendship regardless of language and culture.

AKF have invited two renowned Karate Sensei to conduct the training namely Sensei Tsuguo Sakumoto for Kata training and Sensei Masao Kagawa for Kumite training.

"I believe all the participants will benefit tremendously from the camp. In addition, this training session is also part of AKF's effort to lobby and support the sport to be included in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic," said Simon Chia, SKAS Secretary General.

A competition will be held at the end of the training camp where SKAS will be participating in the senior individual Kumite which will be represented by Jay Caljmulia Abd Rahman for (+84kg) and Charles Khoo Wei Yong (-75kg).
