Anyone linked or backs Sultanate
Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah State Assembly passed a special motion to ban Nurul Izzah Anwar and Tian Chua from entering Sabah. The august house also voted to ban anyone who supported or linked themselves with the self proclaimed Sulu Sultanate from entering the country and called for legal action as well as investigations to be carried out against Nurul and Tian Chua.

The motion was tabled by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Raymond Tan Shu Kiah in relation to the meeting between Nurul, Tian Chua and Jacel Kiram, the daughter of Jamalul Kiram, the self-proclaimed Sulu Sultan who ordered the armed intrusion to claim Sabah in 2013.

Tan also called on the authorities, particularly the Eastern Sabah Security Command to intensify its operations in the east coast of Sabah to stave off threats and continue with the curfew imposed since July last year.

A probe and legal action should also be taken against Nurul and Tian Chua for what they had done, he stressed.

"Many people are still traumatised because of this dark period in our history, but suddenly we see Nurul posting in her social media accounts about the meeting.

"This also includes a photograph of Nurul and Jacel holding a card or placard to call for the release of Datuk Seri Anwar (Ibrahim)," he said.

Chief minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said the actions by Nurul and Tian Chua undermined the sacrifices made by our Malaysian security forces in defending the sovereignty during the Lahad Datu intrusion.

Regarding the motion, Musa said he would take note of the views presented by the members of the assembly before he decides on the appropriate action.

The power to bar anyone from the State was in the hands of the Chief Minister.

In Parliament today, The Malaysian InMeanwhile Nurul would only issue a statement on the move by the Sabah state assembly after her appointment with the police in Bukit Aman tomorrow.

"I will issue a statement there with my lawyer tomorrow.

"It is very important to understand I have made a clear cut apology especially to those who were hurt by the incident and the issue does not justify linking me with the attacks that took place in Lahad Datu in 2013," she said.

Jacel is the daughter of self-proclaimed Sulu Sultan Jamalul Kiram III, who was behind the Lahad Datu incursion in eastern Sabah in 2013, in which a number of Malaysian armed forces personnel were killed.

Nurul Izzah also said that she was forced to sue the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar and Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob due to the gravity of their allegations linking her to treason.

She said their statements had allegedly portrayed her as traitor to the country and that she had committed a serious crime.

Kota Belud MP Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said that the decision taken at the state assembly was expected, to reflect on the anger of the people.

He also criticised Nurul for wanting to lead the country, but of being unable to determine know who the enemy was.

"Nurul Izzah wants to be the prime minister of the country, but if she does not know who the enemy is, how to be a leader?

"This is why the people of Sabah are angry," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

Meanwhile, the ban was politically motivated and an abuse of legislative power, said Tian Chua.

The Batu MP and party Vice-President, said he was considering legal action against Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi for allegations over the meeting between Nurul Izzah Anwar and Sulu representative Jacel Kiram, at which he was also present.

"Its an abuse of procedure to judge without giving us an opportunity to defend ourselves.

"The state legislature already decided on the punishment. This shows they are not even going through due process to allow us to defend and to counter the baseless allegations," he said.

He said that while it was understandable that the state held the power to restrict entry to persons, it should be based on safety or security reasons to protect the state's citizens.
