Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia's domestic Producer Price Index (PPI) for October 2015 increased by 1.7 per cent to 104.7 from 102.9 in September, the Statistics Department said Monday. In a statement Monday, the department said this was due to the increase in both local production and import price indexes of one per cent and 0.7 per cent respectively.Year-on-year (yoy) comparison showed that the PPI for the domestic economy in October decreased by 2.6 per cent, with the local production index dropping by 4.8 per cent while the import price index rose 1.8 per cent, it said.

It said the PPI for local production increased by one per cent to 102.6 in October 2015 compared to the previous month due to increases in agriculture, forestry and fishing (5.3 per cent), mining (4.1 per cent) and manufacturing (0.2 per cent), electricity, gas (0.1 per cent) as well as water supply (0.2 per cent).
