CIDB strengthens ties with HK's CIC

Kuala Lumpur: The Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) and the Construction Industry Council of Hong Kong (CIC) Wednesday signed a Heads of Collaboration in Hong Kong to take their mutual cooperation a step closer.CIDB, said in a statement, that under the terms of the Heads of Collaboration, the two bodies had agreed to share information, experiences and ideas as well as facilitate collaboration to improve the quality of the built environment.

They also agreed to promote best practices (for site safety and contracts) within the construction industry, encourage the development of sustainable construction practices and assist each other where practicable for mutual benefit.

Sariah Abdul Karib, CIDB Acting Chief Executive signed the agreement with Ir Dr Christopher To, Executive Director of the Construction Industry Council.

"The Hong Kong and Malaysian construction industries have a lot in common, and thus the functions of the CIC and CIDB are similar.

"We were both established primarily to guide the development of our respective construction industries.

"Additionally, both our industries have their specialisations.

With the signing of this document, we intend to explore areas of synergy to determine where best we can assist each other, in the interest of our respective construction industries and stakeholders," said Sariah. – Bernama
