UMS to strengthen Eco-Farm

Kota Kinabalu: Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) will strengthen the Eco-Farm agriculture field in Keningau as a training ground for the benefit of its students as well as agropreneurs.The university's Board of Directors Chairman, Tun Zaki Tun Azmi, said agriculture will be one of the thrust areas to be strengthened by UMS."The empowerment of agriculture field will encourage more local youths to get involved in the field and will provide the space for research activity dedicated to dairy and related fields.

"It is hoped that through this effort, we would be able to generate income for UMS through agro-tourism and the sales of agricultural products, and thus become an example of Eco-Farm to agriculture community in Keningau, Tambunan and the whole of Sabah," he said after paying courtesy call to the Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, here, Wednesday.Zaki also introduced five re-appointed members of the board for a period of two years starting April until 2018.Earlier, Juhar received a courtesy call from the Kaamatan Implementation and Coordination Committee (MICC) Chairman Datuk Seri Clarence Bongkos Malakun and his entourage.Clarence said the courtesy call was to invite Juhar as the guest of honour for the State-level Kaamatan Festival 2016 at Hongkod Koisaan on May 31.
