Kota Kinabalu: Consumers in some areas in the city were faced with several hours of power disruption due to damages reported on the main substation in Sembulan on Friday. The areas included Luyang, Sinsuran, Centre Point, Asia City, Imago, several parts along Jalan Tuaran and Karamunsing. Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB), in a statement on Saturday, said the incident was caused by damages to the 33 kilovolt switch at the Sembulan Main Substation.

Investigations are still being done to determine the cause of damage. Power supply was restored in stages after electricity was channelled through alternative means.
