'Start saving for Haj early' advice to young

Ranau: Young Muslims in the State are encouraged to practice saving money early so as to perform the Hajj in Mecca later.State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister cum Karanaan Assemblyman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said awareness on the importance of the pilgrimage should also be instilled at a young age.

"We usually see our people go on Hajj at their advanced age. This is because the process to collect sufficient funds will take a long time.

"Do not wait until we get old before wanting to start saving for the pilgrimage. Begin saving while still young," he said.

Masidi, who is also the State Education Exco, said this while opening the Program Jom Menabung Di Tabung Haji (Journey To Mecca) and Majlis Perasmian Program Sulung Pejabat Bergerak Kenderaan TH Komuniti held at SMK Ranau on Wednesday.

The programme was jointly organised by the Ranau Youth Association, PIBG SMK Ranau Sabah and Lembaga Tabung Haji.

Meanwhile, he also suggested that the Lembaga Tabung Haji establish a branch office in the district in order to facilitate the public's needs.

He also hoped that the Kenderaan TH Komuniti will continue to serve the people so they can benefit from the programme.

Also present were Chief Operating Officer of Lembaga Tabung Haji, Datuk Adi Azuan, General Manager Operations Branch Office Tabung Haji, Tahar Pilus, Chairman of the Association of Youth cum Chairman of the Upko Youth Ranau, Mohd Hisyamuddin bin Harun, Principal of SMK Ranau, Barizah binti Mohd Kahar, Chairman of the PIBG SMK Ranau, Jasnin Othman and others.
