RM2.7m gaming items destroyed
Tawau: A total of 1,224 units of gambling equipment worth about RM2.7 million were disposed of by police, here, Monday after obtaining court orders. The equipment were seized during 90 separate cases from 1999 to 2014 under the Gaming House Act 1953. District Police Chief ACP Fadil Marsus said the items comprised 321 slot machines, 903 units computer units such as monitor, mouse and keyboard, 15 tables and 407 chairs (pic).

The disposal process was done at the Sherdwood wood factory, Mile 4, Jalan Apas.

Also present were the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's Tawau officer Shani Mandu, Tawau Court Registrar Officer Puspawati Sangut and Tawau Environment Officer Amran Mad Ladim among others.

Fadil said police will remain aggressive in curbing gambling activities in the district to make Tawau safe and prosperous.

He urged those with information on such activities to alert the police for immediate action.
