Kota Kinabalu: Budding junior golfers throughout the State are urged to take part in the 15th Sabah Golf and Country Club (SGCC) Junior Open to be held from December 7-9.SGCC President Datuk Peter Khoo in a press conference held at the clubhouse on Thursday said the tournament is part of their long term plan to groom young boys and girls who aspire to play competitive golf professionally or to earn college golf scholarship through competitive junior golf.

He also said there will be 'fun' factor in this year event.

"For the first time in Sabah junior golf tournaments, we will make it exciting and fun for the juniors and their parents by organising many skill events such as longest drive, putting and short game competitions, pro talks and clinics to help them play better as well as a special event for novice players to develop their confidence and interest."

Khoo added that since the tournament was inaugurated 15 years ago, it has attracted very good turnout from juniors all over the country as well as from this region, and he hoped the Club can in future make it even greater in the golfing calendar.

The two-day competition is open for both boys and girls in the category A (age 16-18), category B (age 13-15), category C (age 10-12) and the novice event.

Those interested are to contact the Club at 088-247533 or Noordin at 016-8397411.
