Kota Kinabalu: Members of the Shotokan Karate Association of Sabah (SKAS) stand a chance to win scholarships to study abroad following the association's Memorandum of Understanding with JM Education Group Kota Kinabalu Branch.SKAS secretary Simon Chia said the MoU with JMECC will enable its members to win scholarships to study in schools, colleges and universities not just in Malaysia and Singapore but also in Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada, America and Ireland.

According to Simon, the MoU represents a huge milestone for the association to link its members to academic pursuits.

"This is a very exciting opportunity for our members. The management committee hopes to pave way for them and help bridge them closer in achieving academic success," he said in a statement yesterday.

Meanwhile, JMECC branch manager Teh Kee Aun said there are various scholarships offered from universities and organisations to deserving Sabahan students.

"STEM courses (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and careers are particularly in demand but relatively few fill in as a choice of course," he said.

"Sports scholarship is an area that is in demand. SKAS students will definitely benefit from the Sports scholarship as the area of study is wide in Science and Management," he added. Teh also went on to say that there is a unique scholarship for every type of student.

He invited interested applicants to discover the opportunities in store and to meet with him and university partners on December 11 from 12-5pm at Promenade Hotel.
