Duck-roasting at the back of house: Owner compounded

KOTA KINABALU: A house owner was compounded RM500 for operating a food preparation business without a licence.During an inspection carried out by the City Hall Public Health Division led by its chief Danny Kok at 6am on Tuesday, the owner was found to have conducted the duck roasting business at the back of the house.

"Action was taken after City Hall received complaints from the neighbours about smoke produced by the grill. Furthermore, it was also found that the owner had indiscriminately thrown the excess water and oil into the drain," said Kok.

He added that according to the City Hall by-laws, such actions are against the rules and regulations and the house owner was ordered to stop the activity immediately.
