"I believe one day in the future, we can produce a cycling champion that will go on and represent the country at the international arena," he said.

And because of this, he said, the ministry is considering to sponsor the Cycling Association Kota Kinabalu (CAKK)- organised Century Cycling Race in next year's edition.

He said that there were also riders from the peninsula taking part apart from the Sabahan-majority participants.

"But we want to see the event being conducted repeatedly," he said to the media.

Not only the Century Cycling Race is a good competition, it also promotes healthy lifestyle, he said.

In addition, unity and racial integration were very much evidenced with the participation of riders of various ethnicities including also Caucasians.
