Kundasang: About 800 vegetables and flowers stalls operators here are urging the authority to relocate the current row of stalls along the Kundasang main road due to safety reason.Bumiputera Vegetable Wholesalers and Retailers Association Committee Chairlady, Mariana Taliban said, on December last year, several cars were involved in a small accident and nearly crashed into some of the stalls.

"Sellers here are constantly worried for their safety. We are scared that one day, a more serious accident would happen which cause one or more sellers along this road to be affected.

"As we know, the vegetable and flower stalls in Kundasang are located along the main Ranau – Kota Kinabalu road. Currently it is too close to the road, and even motorists who want to stop by could barely park their vehicles in a proper manner.

"This is a problem faced by all of us who do business here on daily basis. Furthermore, some of us have children who linger around the stalls after or before school," she said.

Towards that end, Mariana urged the authority concerned to intervene and relocate the stalls to a safer location or create a solution centred on the win-win situation that benefits all parties.

"We want an environment where everyone can do business in safer condition. So we hope that the Ranau District Council (MDR) and our Assemblyman, Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam to help us resolve the situation," she said.

In the incident on Dec 15, four vehicles rammed into each other due to the congestion that commonly occurred along the stall areas, and two of the vehicles nearly rammed into one of the vegetable stall nearby.
