Lorry driver charged with CBT involving 700 bags of cement

Kota Kinabalu: A lorry driver was charged in the Magistrate's Court here with two counts of criminal breach of trust involving 700 bags of cement.Muhd Hasrul Petjoh, 24, pleaded not guilty to committing the offence at Cement Industries (Sabah) Sdn Bhd.

On the first count, Hasrul, who was entrusted with 300 bags of cement as a lorry driver, had committed criminal breach of trust at 8.52pm on June 14.

He also committed the same offence involving 400 bags of cement at 12.50pm on June 16.

Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun set July 13 for mention and released Muhd Hasrul on a bail of RM1,500 in two sureties on each count.

The offence, under Section 407 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of between one year and 10 years and whipping and liability of a fine on conviction.

In another case, 12 people was jailed and fined for taking drugs.

Juman Ratip, Halmon Dulian, Said Abdullah, Jasmin Nurkis, Merilyn Saludin, Rosmee Siman, Rahani Jali, Wong Nyuk Kong, Md Hafiz Salleh, Jalilul Kalbi, Norjiman Muslimin and Henry John Lajanga admitted to committing the offence at separate locations here between April 6 and May 23.

Juman was ordered to pay a fine of RM1,600 or four months' jail while the rest were handed five months each.

Meanwhile, 30-year-old Jimar Aman was jailed three months and fined RM1,800 or five months' jail for having 0.46gm of syabu on April 13 at Asia City. Inspector Azaman Hamat prosecuted.
