Kota Kinabalu: State Mufti Bongsu @ Aziz Jaafar is prepared to apologise if his statement at a recent forum in Putrajaya was interpreted differently by the Kadazandusun community. He said it was not his intention to hurt the feelings of any race and ethnic group in Sabah because he is also from Sabah from the Brunei and Dusun ethnic groups.

Bongsu hoped that in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidil Adha it is not wrong to apologise to one another, which is normally done by the races in this state and country.

The State Mufti came under fire when he suggested a programme to Malay-nise the indigenous Muslim in Sabah and that the Kadazans were an invented race.

Several Kadazan leaders, led by the Kadazan Sabah Society (KSS), had filed for saman malu (belittling the community) against him in the Penampang and Keningau native courts.
